Geren Ford’s Western Oxford Shirt

I don’t know what kind of Annie get your gun moment I’m having here, but I’m really kind of digging Geren Ford’s Western Oxford Shirt.

My general concern with light denim shirts is looking like some sort of Folsom Prison escapee, but I do love that Geren just embraced the western-ness of it all and threw in some grommets and a back yoke.

While I’m generally a fan of Lauren Merkin’s perfect little clutches, I have a tendency to be boringly monochromatic with my own wardrobe, refraining from some colors entirely.

Despite the oft-avoided flashes of teal, I am totally drawn to Lauren’s Lotte in Feathers - the brightness of the teal contrasts perfectly with the richer and darker patches of olive and ochre.

Item of the Day: Anna Molinari’s Embellished Wool-Blend Dress

Given that the Bay Area has decided to correctly interpret summer weather for once, it’s not really the time to consider adding wool to one’s wardrobe, but this jaw-dropping Anna Molinari dress has me thinking ahead.

Plus, it’s totally appropriate for a number of occasions, like your ex-boyfriend’s wedding or favorite frenemy’s funeral.

Item of the Day: Alice + Olivia’s Samantha Striped Sequin Tee

Fashion, like architecture, is a utilitarian art. There is a certain basic human need element that other genres of art lack. Despite this, some of the most appealing items of apparel are those that we least “need” in the practical sense.

Exhibit A: this Alice + Olivia sequined striped top. Beyond the fact that on a primordial level I really only require the most basic of coverings, it’s also not all that tough to find a little black and white striped shirt for under $30.

But, ohhhhhhhhhhhh. THIS one. This little striped shirt, with its sequins and gorgeous drape makes my grasping heart flutter. If I ever strike it big my closet will be full of such wonderful, useless things.

Item of the Day: Geren Ford’s Contrast Trim Sleeveless Blouse

There’s no such thing as too many basic sleeveless silk tops: they’re easy to dress up or down, perfect for layering and appropriate for almost any occasion. This Geren Ford top is simple and understated, but the bright blue hue and tuxedo-style buttons keep it from being dull.

Plus, it would look darling with my new pointy-shouldered black blazer.

Item of the Day: BB Dakota’s Mesh Me Much Top

I’ve always had an odd fascination with the whole ecru netting ice-skater look, and judging by the recent preponderance of mesh items on Gossip Girl and the red carpet, it’s becoming more socially acceptable off the ice.

BB Dakota is always a good bet for cheap chic pieces, and I love this top’s combination of mesh and stripes, as well as the fab exposed oversized zipper detail at the back.

It’s a distinct possibility that this shirt may make me look like an extra from a Tim Burton film, but at $60, I’m willing to take the risk.

Item of the Day: Hive and Honey’s Truffle Booties

I’ve been needing a basic pair of peep toe booties and found these Hive and Honey Truffle ones. Between the ruffle detail and low price point, they seem to be ideal for being fashion-y at work. My only sticking point is that booties in general remind me of these shoes I had in 6th grade that I literally wore to a nubbin, and I’m afraid I’m going to put them on my feet and be mentally transported back to my dorky years.
