Item of the Day: Chamak Jewelry’s Set of Six Copper & Black Crystal Bangles
Bangles are generally a ‘good in theory’ kind of accessory for me. As much as I like them, I don’t rock bracelets as often as necklaces or earrings, and good bangles are usually on the spendier side (because, of course, you’re buying multiples).
This Chamak Jewelry bangle set may be costume jewelry, but the combination of the mixed metals and black and copper stones make it sophisticated and versatile (and at a price that won’t make you forgo your car payment or major surgery).
Currently on sale at Gilt for $45 (originally $105).

FO FINDS: MADE HER THINK SKULL SCARF, CAROLINA AMATO BOW GLOVES AND VINTAGE BEN-AMUN NECKLACE
Digging through my jewelry box over the weekend, I came across these three pieces piled together, and somehow they just kind of worked. Both the scarf and the gloves have been rather neglected; the former for being a smaller pocket square size, and the latter because…well, leather driving gloves aren’t exactly for everyday wear (I did wear the necklace a ton during the holidays).
But what’s the point of buying things if you’re only going to let them idle? I’ve thus been inspired to construct a future outfit around these pieces. I just need the right occasion, even if I have to invent it. Given the slightly sinister yet glam look of the trio together, I’m thinking murder mystery.
Along These Lines…

Alexander McQueen’s Skull Scarf, $276 (originally $395)

Alexander McQueen’s Inverted Bar Skull Ribbon, $144 (originally $235)

Carolina Amato’s Leather Bow Driving Glove, $50

Bloomingdale’s Leather Gloves with Contrast Bow, $98 (originally $140)

Vintage Ben-Amun Gold Link Choker, $44.95

Vintage Ben-Amun Gold Disk Necklace & Earrings Set, $382

Item of the Day: Alexis Bittar’s Flora Rose Dust Link Earrings
I’m a big fan of Alexis Bittar’s jewelry, his Black Iris Pin having long been my elusive white whale (life lesson: if it’s on sale and you love it beyond reason, just buy it. You can figure out details like getting a summer job mowing lawns or selling kidneys later).
In the meantime, I’m digging the more accessible Flora Link Earrings. The color palette and shape lends them a sort of intergalactic appeal, and the contrast of the smoky and rosy gems against the cool blue Lucite hoops is just gorgeous.
Currently on sale at $156.90 (originally $235).

Item of the Day: Lulu Frost’s Crystal Quill Necklace
Well, this Lulu Frost necklace is just awesome as all get out, no? With its over-sized porcupine quills and bezel set crystals, it’s the best possible mix of this season’s tribal elements with vintage costume jewelry glamor.
Clearly I’m not the only one drawn to its spiky perfection, because it’s sold out at most retailers (but still available at Sucre).
Currently priced at $368.

Item of the Day: By Malene Birger’s Kalikoa Carry-Me Striped Tote
Okay, I know I have been posting striped things to a tiresome degree, and I promise, I’ll stop at some point (probably around the same time I stop posting pearl accessories, ha!).
But this By Malene Birger tote is the bag version of the quintessential striped French top; minimalist perfection that manages to be both casual and sophisticated at the same time.
Currently available for $175 (take 50% off until the end of today using code memorial50).

Designer Finds: The Millinery Shop

Designer Finds is a new feature dedicated to shining a spotlight on up-and-coming and independent designers. Want to nominate someone for consideration? Drop us a line!

I secretly have always wanted to be a hat person, and naturally, the recent royal wedding with all of its Philip Treacy finery stirred up those old longings. Sadly, not only has the whole elaborate hats at weddings thing yet to catch on in the U.S., but to really be a hat person, you have to commit yourself to it (a la Isabella Blow), and I’m not sure I’m ready to be that much of a hat person. I tried to suggest mandatory hats in lieu of the usual crap games at my recent baby shower, but apparently my friends thought I was joking (at least they knew I wasn’t kidding about not having games part).

Still, there’s no time like the summer to find oneself a good hat or two. Marcia Lacher is an F.I.T. trained milliner whose Etsy storefront holds her original handmade designs, ranging from cloches to fedoras to headbands to Treacy-esque cocktail hats. Undeniably vintage-inspired without being twee, Lacher’s guiding philosophy is “you should look better in your hat than without it.”

I’m personally leaning towards this fedora: I love the juxtaposition of the chocolate brown menswear shape with the feminine mass of cream colored ribbon bows.

Check out all of The Millinery Shop’s pieces or request a custom item here, and save 25% off felt winter hats and fur-trimmed hats using the coupon code EndofSeason.
