MadMag: Richie Goes Gaga for BlackBook
I don’t think Lady Gaga is changing the world through the power of song or anything, but where other people loathe (the big glasses, leotards, etc), I sort of love. She’s over-the-top and rock n’ roll but remains somewhat enigmatic, which is kind of refreshing in this modern age of the overshare.
Evidently her look is considered distinct enough to spawn imitators: first Christina Aguilera, and now Nicole Richie for Blackbook. BlackBook is calling the spread “Glam Punk,” but…well, just look at it. It may as well be called “Nicole Richie Dresses Like Lady Gaga. A Lot.”
Regardless of how you feel about Richie or Gaga, BlackBook’s pop art shoot is pretty great: uncluttered shots with minimal or nonexistent backgrounds and bright bursts of color. The styling was also very well done (again, whether or not you would actually wear dropped crotch gold lame pants): labels like Target and H&M are mixed with Vuitton and Louboutin. Although, sadly, no dress made of bubbles.

Is it terrible that I’m now looking for an excuse to have Lee Press On like gold nails? Rings by House of Harlow and Cartier, bracelets by Cartier, Swarovski, Etro, Miu Miu, and H&M.
