OUTFIT OF THE DAYWednesday: Lady in Yellow
Corso Como Saturn booties from HauteLook
Geren Ford silk top from Gilt
Betsey Johnson skirt (yes, again)
Vintage Hermes Medor watch
Custom Cassia earrings by Amy Nordstrom
Isharya lucite ring from The Marin Store’s last sample sale
I built today’s outfit around two factors: my new Corso Como booties and my current obsession with any deep shade of yellow.
It’s funny how you can wear something a number of times and then one day, everybody comments on it like they’ve never seen it before. All my co-workers loved this Geren Ford top - yellow just seems to be a genial color. I used to carry Geren at my old boutique, and she’s still one of my go-to designers for silk shirts. I got this particular top at Gilt while I was pregnant - the elastic banded waist was perfect for my then expanding (and now contracting) belly.
The Hermes watch is almost the exact same shade of ochre, and ranks as one of my best Ebay purchases ever (this was back in the glory days when people were still weird about buying things on the internet and you could actually get a little bit of a deal on authentic pieces). I added a big lucite Isharya cocktail ring with multi-colored crystals and a pair of Amy Nordstrom earrings. Amy is a local Sausalito designer and I love visiting her studio and seeing what custom work she’s up to. Last year I wanted a pair of colorful earrings to wear with a black dress to a friend’s winter wedding, so Amy adding pieces of iolite and garnet to these earrings from her Cassia collection.
Finally, the booties. I am officially in lurve with Corso Como - not only do their styles tend to be right up my alley, but they are so comfortable. As I mentioned in my previous outfit post, these days I’m in a little bit of a wardrobe funk, but the booties totally inspired me to pull something together. Somewhere there’s a cheesy “a good outfit is transformative” sentiment, but more importantly, even one of the guys working on our roof had to stop and tell me how hot my shoes were.
