OUTFIT OF THE DAYSunday: Fun Day?
Free People ruched shoulder top from Gilt
Betsey Johnson skirt
Hadley booties courtesy of Pour La Victoire
Isharya pink druzy & rose gold earrings from The Marin Store’s last sample sale (similar ones available here)
Rose gold bangles of indeterminate origin (a present from my friend Mimi)
Normally I’m a non-nonsense, decisive dresser, but lately I’ve been having wardrobe issues of epic proportions. My son is nearly four months old now, and while I’ve lost a significant amount of weight, I’m in this really weird in-between phase where my regular clothes don’t quite fit just yet, but where I don’t want to buy new clothes specifically for this fleeting period. Oh, and my boobs are humongous. Just…ungodly. I make Rock of Love contestants look like the Itty Bitty Titty Committee. This means that currently I alternate between wearing a few things to death and trying on things that I know won’t fit and then getting frustrated about it. It’s getting a little old.
This Free People top is one of the pieces that are in heavy rotation right now. It’s got a really easy shape and will definitely fit once the last pounds come off, plus I love the slightly pointy, ruched shoulders. The Betsey Johnson skirt I’ve had since I was 19 - I remember wearing it the first time for an internship interview at a production company at Universal Studios (made more memorable by the super hot Australian assistant interviewing me). Now, I’m not pointing to my age to be like, look at me, still wearing clothes that I fit in as a teenager! so much as I’m saying that clearly we’re dealing with some Sisterhood of the Traveling pants kind of shit here, because this skirt ALWAYS FITS ME.
The booties were gifted to me by Pour La Victoire, and the 5”+ height does wonders in making me feel more svelte. The rose gold bangles and earrings were an attempt to lighten up the look - it was, after all, a warm Sunday afternoon, even for those of us currently experiencing wardrobe difficulties.
