Daily Obsession: Colored Cocktail Rings

It may not be Prohibition any more, but cocktail rings are just as popular now as they were when they emerged in the 1940s. Most often composed of an oversized stone and/or elaborate setting, a good cocktail ring can electrify even the most staid of outfits.

$100 and Under

These Kenneth Jay Lane rings balance simplicity with cocktail gaudiness, which lends them a certain versatility, especially when paired with a sleek black dress.

Anna Kiel’s resin rings keep it uncomplicated but bright with their modern satellite design and candy-like hues.

My inner Mariah Carey (who knew?) is strangely drawn to this Juicy Couture cluster ring with its coral and cubic stones and, gulp, butterfly detail.

The Mid-Rangers

Alternately, how would you like to spend your stimulus check?

I love the two-tone setting of Jamie Joseph’s fabulously gumball-like faceted sea blue chalcedony ring.

Alexis Bittar’s Oversized Engagement Ring is a cheeky play on the typical matrimonial rock with its gigantic onyx stone and bold yellow gold setting.

There’s something wonderfully perverse about this YSL enamel ring: it’s sort of like your grandma’s dowdiest old lady ring went through the fires of hell.

The Spendy Picks

For the November-born lady in your life (ahem), this vintage citrine ring makes a definite statement with its black enameled setting, yellow gold rims, and whopping 12 carat center stone. The good news? It’s on sale. The bad news? It’s still $1600.

This pink tourmaline Marie-Helene de Taillac ring is gorgeous with its simple and organic shape.

This exquisitely detailed boule ring (boule, you ask?) features diamonds, sapphires, and rubies set in alternating yellow gold, white gold, and black rhodium. I want this ring so badly that it pains me. The fact that it contains not only precious stones but rhodium should tip you off to the price point.
