Amy Winehouse Switches Needles for PPQ

To sewing needles, that is. Yes, it’s poor taste day at Fashion Orbit. From Women’s Wear Daily:

Amy Winehouse’s lifestyle choices might be a little questionable, but it seems the singer remains in the good graces of the fashion industry at least. Confirming British press reports, sources said Winehouse is working on a fashion line with London label PPQ, designed by Amy Molyneaux and Percy Parker.

The line with Winehouse will launch later this year. And though Winehouse — who’s recently been snapped cavorting around the Caribbean — may seem a controversial choice for a fashion plate, PPQ is no stranger to London’s hard-partying set: Last year, the design duo launched a line with outspoken “It” girl Peaches Geldof.

Or she could, I don’t know, go to rehab? I think Jamie Spears needs to get his hands on this one, because apparently her loved ones still think she’s doing a-ok (despite, um, a lot of evidence to the contrary).

I sort of understand the impulse to bring her into fashion, as her retro pin-up look used to be great: the huge hair, skinny jeans, and little ballet flats with a big swagger. But then the super skinny jeans started hanging off her emaciated frame, the ballet flats were permanently dotted with blood stains, and the hair became a perma-rat’s nest. Second chances are one thing, but essentially buying the next score for someone whose addiction is rendering them subhuman is another.
